Kathy Chu
Co-founder and Principal
As a veteran of the web industry, Kathy is CTD's leader and visionary who has built relationships with executive, marketing, communications, and IT clients at companies ranging from startups to Fortune 500 corporations. She oversees and guides the CTD studio and leverages her acumen in business development, sales, creative direction, and front- and backend technologies.
Prior to co-founding CTD, Kathy worked at Paramount Digital Entertainment and was a Creative Director for IBM's Internet National Practice, where she built and led a team that developed web application interfaces for the banking and finance industry at the beginning of the Internet revolution. Clients included Nation's Bank, Union Bank of California, and Deluxe Corporation, the largest check provider in the world for whom she and her team designed the first check ordering application on the web. Kathy also benefits from her years in research psychology, as well as the pre-desktop publishing era, managing the production of software/hardware packaging and print advertising.
Kathy received her undergraduate degree with honors from Stanford University, and an M.A. in Psychology from UC Berkeley. In 1994, she left the prestigious Ph.D. program in clinical and research psychology at Berkeley to enter the then-burgeoning field of new media. She is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators and the Bay Area chapter of ACM SIGCHI, which explores educational and scientific aspects of Computer-Human Interaction.

Dave Boudreau
Creative Director
A 25-year veteran of design and marketing, Dave has served digital entertainment and technology clients across the country. Well-versed in the support of brands such as Visa, Applied Materials, Hasbro Interactive, and Panasonic, Dave believes that creativity, however brilliant, must be wielded in the context of the challenge - so that results meet or exceed business goals. He provides strategic direction, shapes CTD's design vision, and oversees all creative aspects of the company.
Dave also brings considerable experience from his days in package design and print advertising. He has worked as a designer, photographer, copywriter, and has created news graphics at WBZ-TV, the NBC affiliate in Boston.
Dave attended Wesleyan University, Massachusetts College of Art, and UC Santa Cruz, and holds degrees in Communication Design and Photography. He is a member of the American Council on Design, the Arts Council of Napa Valley, and founded Huge Bull Artist, a support network for commercial artists with fine art aspirations.

Kris Johnson
User Experience Specialist
Kris Johnson's editorial background with Time Warner has been an asset in her work as a user experience specialist. Usability, at its core, is about clear communication, whether through site structure, graphic imagery, or text. At CTD, Kris actively represents user needs and goals through all phases of the design and development process. She has conducted heuristic evaluations of web application interfaces, developed interaction flows for database-driven web sites, and delivered presentations on usability to client groups.
Before joining CTD, Kris directed the production of custom web sites for client promotions and webcasts as a project manager at CMP Media. Her experience with an internally-developed circulation database (and the rebuff of numerous recommendations for improvement) prompted her interest in user experience. Prior to CMP, Kris worked as an associate editor with the Tom Peters Group, where she researched and reported on companies pursuing innovative management strategies. The power of a group commitment to the greater good of a product or company is a lasting lesson she has carried with her into the world of usability.
Kris is completing her Masters degree in Human Factors at San Jose State University. She received her Bachelors degree in History with honors from Whitworth College in Spokane, WA.

As the project progressed, we found their example of teamwork to be contagious and, as a result, worked stronger as a team ourselves. |
